In the television series “The Old Man”, there is a conversation in Episode 3 of Season 1 in which it is stated:
“A name is just a name.
It’s who the person is that matters.”
Indeed, my name is just a name as is your name. It’s who I am and who you are that matters.
Yet, how can you be sure of who I am; and, how can I be sure of who you are.
The fact is that, if you really think about it, each of us are identified by many names; yet, within the context of “me”, each name placed upon “me” by others or by me will not be any more than just another name; a similar statement applying to “you”.
Turns out who you are and who I am has nothing to do with our respective names. Rather, who you are and who I am (what really matters) is determined by our respective actions.
