I awake and think I hear the sound of running water. However, my thinking “sound of running water” is only a thought that emerges in my mind informed by these four words: “sound” “of” “running” “water”.
Beneath this thinking “sound of running water” lies an experience; my sensing (hearing – listening) of what I can now describe using these four words:
“sound of running water”.
It was in that moment of awakening that I became aware that what I had been doing and what I was now doing in this present “awakening” moment was placing words on my experiences.
Previous to that moment, a tree was just a tree and water was just water; no mind being given to my experience of “tree” or my experience of “water”; experiences that lay beneath the word “tree” and the word “water”.
Indeed, what I now am aware of is that I was trained to “think” that a tree was just a tree and water was just water. An awareness that was just the beginning of a journey; a journey that I call:
